Essential Truths for Spiritual Warfare

The scripture says, ‘the belt of truth’. At times, we might think of the belt as merely an accessory, but in God’s perspective, the belt of truth is crucial. Without it, we risk being disrobed, as faith and other virtues become ineffective without the foundation of truth. Jesus emphasized this when He declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Truth is not subjective; it is absolute and rooted in Christ.

The order of the armor is intentional: we first wear the belt of truth, then the breastplate of righteousness. The truth you have received about righteousness really matters as it determines how well the breastplate of righteousness protects you. This righteousness is a gift from Christ, not our own. The gospel of peace follows, reminding us that we are reconciled with God, called to walk in love and embody His peace wherever we go.

As we engage in spiritual warfare, we must remember that we are not fighting in our own strength but are adorned in God’s armor. This includes the shield of faith, which is not our own faith but God’s. It is a divine protection against the enemy’s attacks. With the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, we fulfill the scriptures, not merely act them out. Prayer, powered by the Spirit, connects us to God’s eternal intercession. As we wear this armor, we become reflections of Christ, equipped to stand firm against all adversities.
