The Apocalyptic Revelation: Unveiling Mysteries for Transformation

God didn’t just come to speak a few words and move on; He comes to transform us. The Beatitudes on the mount are not just words—they are God personally communicating with humanity, not as a group, but individually to transform them. God’s purpose is to impart His love and grace toward your life. Today, you’re in for a feast. Say, “I’m in for a feast!” Say it again: “My eyes are going to be opened. My eyes are going to be opened, and I’m going to hear the deep things of God. There will be a revelation of mysteries—even the things I’ve not known. Even the things not known, I will know. And the requests I have in my heart will be answered today. By the time I leave this door, I will be changed in Jesus' name.” Are you excited for that?

Today’s topic is apocalypsis. When we hear the word apocalypsis or apocalyptic, what comes to mind? The end times, tsunamis, earthquakes, war, or even zombies? The imagery of chaos and fear often dominates, especially because movies and books portray the apocalypse in these ways. But there’s a deeper meaning to this word when we look at the Book of Revelation. It is not just about destruction; it’s about unveiling mysteries and revealing the deeper truths of God’s plan for the world.

Apocalyptic Revelation

In Revelation 1:1, the scripture starts by saying, “The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him…” Who did God give a revelation to? Jesus Christ, right? We’re all here waiting, “God, give me a revelation!” But here, God gave a revelation to Jesus Christ after His resurrection and ascension to the right hand of God. This is not something that was revealed when Jesus was on Earth. It’s an apocalyptic message given to Jesus, and He is now authorized to share it with us. Understanding this context is crucial because it reveals that the message in Revelation is not just a vision John had—it is a divine mystery that was unveiled to Jesus and then passed on to the Church through Apostle John.

What is a revelation? The term used here is “apocalypsis,” which means unveiling or revealing something that was once hidden. The Book of Revelation is not just a message or vision—it is an apocalypsis, a revelation of mysteries. It’s a mystery that God decided to unveil, and it’s shared with us in an authorized form. Sometimes, God gives us revelations or insights that are encrypted and meant to be kept secret until the right time. Paul, for instance, spoke of a man who went to the third heaven and saw things that cannot be disclosed to mankind. Similarly, in Revelation, Jesus is given an “authorized version” of the encrypted truth—one that can be shared with the Church, God’s bride.

Just as there are things that are encrypted, and hidden from us, there are also moments where God reveals the truth to us. It’s like God saying, “I want you to share this with the Church, but only what’s authorized.” This is how the Book of Revelation functions—it is the unveiling of what was once hidden, now revealed for the benefit of the Church. God has given Jesus Christ the authority to share this revelation, ensuring that it is both protected and revealed to those who are ready to hear and receive it.
