Wanted by God: The Assurance of Eternal Life
In 1 Thessalonians 5:10, we are reminded that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. This is a comforting assurance—that regardless of whether we are alive or have passed on, our ultimate purpose is to be with God forever. It’s a truth that should fill us with peace and gratitude, knowing that He has a plan for us to experience eternal life with Him.

There’s an old song that says, “I’m a cowboy on a steel horse I ride, I’m wanted, wanted, dead or alive.” Though it may seem odd, in the Christian context, it carries deep meaning. We are wanted by God for the gift of eternal life. We might not be wanted by the world, but God calls us to receive an inheritance that is imperishable, a life that never fades away. Knowing that we are in God's hands, secure and loved, should give us great peace.
Revelation 3 presents a sobering message to the church in Sardis, which appeared alive to the world but was dead in God's eyes. To truly live means to live by God’s Word, to allow it to shape and transform us. Without this, we might be alive in a physical sense, but we are spiritually dead. But when we align our lives with God's Word, we are alive in Him, and that is the life He calls us to.
God calls us to be watchful and strengthen the things that remain. This means we must focus on what truly matters—our relationship with Him. So often, we start things and fail to finish, but God wants our works to be complete, done faithfully for His glory. As we live by His Word, we strengthen our faith and live with assurance, knowing that God has a plan for us both now and for eternity.
